This means you manually install a special kind of operating system on a computer or VPS, which turns it into a dedicated self-hosting machine with a graphical interface for installing new services.

The hardest option is installing and running services manually.
This means you use technical documentation and installation guides provided by software developers, which assume a lot of prior knowledge and tech skills.
